Kruger Inc. to Invests USD 23.75 Million in a Carbon Capture Technology in its Wayagamack Mill
Kruger Inc. is investing USD 23.75 million in a carbon capture and reuse demonstration project at its Wayagamack Mill in Trois-Rivières, Canada. The project, supported by the Canadian and Québec governments, aims to capture up to 5 tons of high-quality CO2 per day, helping Kruger advance its decarbonization goals. Kruger is partnering with Mantel Capture Inc., a North American startup, to test a new carbon capture technology using molten borate salt, which can withstand high temperatures and integrate directly into a steam boiler. This energy-efficient and cost-effective technology has the potential to capture carbon while producing clean steam, making it sustainable for the papermaking process.
